What is Mips, and why does it matter?
Mips stands for Multi-Directional Impact Protection System. It's an advanced helmet safety technology designed to reduce rotational forces to the brain during certain angled impacts. Inside a Mips-equipped helmet, a low-friction layer allows the helmet to move slightly relative to the head upon impact, helping to redirect rotational motion that could otherwise cause brain injuries.
DSI stands for Dual Shell Integration—a construction method that blends a durable ABS outer shell with a lightweight lower shell. It gives you tough impact protection without adding bulk. These are defined by the Watts 2.0 two side panels.
